Marie Curie Man Shed has started!

Approximately 1 year ago to this day, Lions clubs within the Solihull area announced the donation of over £10,000 towards a Man Shed in memory of our dear friend and long-standing member of Balsall Common Lions Club, Brian Hornsby.

The cheque from the Lions allowed Marie Curie to start the initial works to progress the project.

The “Man Shed” at the Marie Curie hospice at Marsh Lane in Solihull is for any man affiliated with the hospice to attend, to meet with others and have difficult conversations whilst completing tasks like model making, card playing. There are plans to build two sheds for the group one will be a sociable area where they can chat over a cuppa and the other will be a carpenter’s workshop working with volunteers which will be accessible seven days a week.

Well, after much hard work with planning permissions and regulations, we are pleased to announce that the work has started! The digging of the foundations has begun, and we are optimistic that the first Man Shed will be complete before the summer.
